Michelin-starred chef James Sommerin joins online butcher Douglas Willis

Award winning and Michelin-starred chef, James Sommerin, joins online butcher, Douglas Willis, in the role of consultant chef.

Star of shows such as BBC’s Great British Menu and head chef at the famous Crown, at Whitebrook in Monmouthshire, James will be relying on his expertise to create a series of recipes and new dishes using our butcher’s premium range of the finest quality meat products.

James will be heavily involved in preparing content for the website, and specifically, the cooking advice and recipe pages – demonstrating new and exciting ways to use and work with meat.

All the meat is available to purchase online – some of which is sourced from the family’s own farms – and is hand-cut, prepared and inspected to the highest standards by the company’s experienced butchers prior to leaving the factory, and securely vacuum-packed and sealed to ensure freshness and longevity.

Speaking about his new role with Douglas Willis, James says it is his confidence in the quality and freshness of the meat which encouraged him to accept the role.

Earlier this year, the online butcher also launched a brand new range of ready meals; James will now be involved in helping to extend the range with additional recipe ideas.

New Ranges from Popular Cwmbran Butcher

Cwmbran-based family run butcher, Douglas Willis has added to its extensive product list with the launch of its new range of ready prepared meals.

Produced from the finest quality ingredients and designed to make life easier for those of us who want the same quality but quicker, the range is made up of thirteen different meal selections, starting at just £4.95.

Popular choices include duck breasts in orange and mint sauce, Caribbean chicken stir fry, stuffed pork tenderloin wrapped in Douglas Willis’ own home-cured bacon, chicken breasts in lemon and coriander and sliced steak stir fry in black bean sauce.

Speaking about the latest additions, Douglas Willis director, Peter Willis said:
“We’re all busy people but that doesn’t mean we should have to miss out on the same quality when it comes to our convenience foods and we were determined to stick to the same standards for the ready meals as we do for all our other products. It’s a new area for us but they’re going down brilliantly with customers!”

As well as the ready meals, Douglas Willis has also launched a range of freshly-packed sandwiches to suit those looking for a quick and easy lunch option. The new range complements the Douglas Willis range of hot sandwiches and baguettes - which are prepared while customers wait - as well as the lunchtime noodle bar menu which provides for those looking for something a bit different.

Fillings include homemade black pepper sausage with tomato salsa, roast rib eye of beef with horseradish and traditional honey roast ham and mustard.
