Welcome to Douglas Willis’s current News Page, we are a family owned business founded in 1940, which has always been devoted to producing excellent meat for our customers.
The business has significantly grown and developed since then, and we wanted to share our story with you.
With over 70 years in family farming, the Douglas Willis story begins back in 1940 when Douglas opened the doors to our family’s first ‘grocers’ store selling fresh game in Cwmbran. Soon after, the grocery store developed into a butcher’s shop. From there, Douglas took his first steps to bring his ideology of supplying meat from farm to fork a reality, by renting a farm.
Over the years as the business grew, so did the Willis family. Douglas’ son, David and grandsons, Sean, Peter and Greg all work together and have been fundamental to the Douglas Willis journey to success.
Today, the Willis family passionately work together to deliver the highest quality Welsh Meat. The livestock is reared on their farm just acres away from their butchery facility. All the animals are farmed consciously to the highest welfare standards. The beef is selected from our very own herd of Welsh Cattle, as well as lambs and pigs from local farms in the beautiful Usk Valley. The finest poultry and game are handpicked from producers that we have trusting relationships with to ensure the principles of care and quality match the family’s standards.

Our Future – The Development Kitchen.
As the business has grown from strength to strength, boundaries have been pushed and new faces added. We have partnered up with Chef Manuel Monzon, who has become an integral partner in the development of food within the business. Manuel now manages the newly established Development Kitchen at Douglas Willis where he cooks up his innovative new products, to share and excite customers. One things for sure you can expect the unexpected from Douglas Willis this year.
